Clueless

The other day I brought up to my siblings and parents that next year will mark my 10-year high school reunion. I was promptly and good-naturedly ridiculed by my teenage sibs for being old. As if to emphasize their point, a few nights later I found myself watching the movie, Clueless, on TV. It had been a while, and I wasn't able to watch the whole thing (darn JR doesn't appreciate great cinema when it's staring him in the face!), but the few minutes I caught were priceless. The dialogue! ("Surfin' the crimson wave," "As IF," "WhatEVER," etc.) The music! (Radiohead, Luscious Jackson, Counting Crows, et. al.) The fashion! (Plaid mini skirts with thigh-high socks, flannel shirts galore.) Seriously, who could ask for a more fervent tribute to the 90's? I couldn't have asked for a sweeter formative decade, even if I am old.

It doesn't seem like it's been that long does it? My brother Charlie, who's 18, tried to tell me the other day that Cake and Weezer were music from "his" days. I kindly corrected him and told him that those CDs he listens to were bought by Jon and I when I was 15. Which means he was listening to them when he was 5. We now refer to it as music from way back when.

I need to watch this movie again--it's been a long time and it used to be one of my favorites.

There are some pictures of Jon on my blog per your request. Wednesday at 5 is when you're on right?

ha! Clueless was my FAVORITE! I tried to base my next years school wardrobe solely around the fashion statements made in that movie!

Hey Kartch! I totally watched that movie just last week and thought about how old I was!! I laughed so hard at like every line because I could just picture our little crew quoting all of them. You going to the reunion? I'll definitely be there. I've already started working like a mad woman to lose the last bit of pregnancy weight and then just my regular fat weight before next summer.
